K. R. Manoj is a post graduate in media and communication, who started his career as a journalist and has gradually moved on to the world of films, under the influence of Film Society Movement in Keralam. He is a passionate film society activist who thinks it's crucial to keep the non metropolitan nature of the movement alive in contemporary times. He was the editor of the journal 'Drisyathalam' which introduced the language of critical film studies to Malayalam readers.His first production venture was a television series on Kathakali music for national television (Doordarshan) in 1997. He co-produced and directed the short film 'Agni' in 2003 and the documentary '16mm- memories movement and a machine' in 2007. Both films won critical acclaim on many platforms. In 2010, he completed his new documentary 'A Pestering Journey'. He lives and works at Thiruvananthapuram and associates with the independent production house, Tropical Cinema.
