Ramesh Gopalakrishnan was born in Thrissur as the son of MK Ramachandran and VS Laxmi. He completed his studies from Kerala Varma College and St. Thomas College, Thrissur.
He has been writing articles and studies in Carnatic music, Hindustani music and film music in the major periodicals in Malayalam for more than 15 years. He is the author of four books - Karnatakasangeethakaranmar, Janapriyasangeetham, Karnatakasangeethavicharangal and Janakeeyasangeethavicharangal.
