Anitha Thampi is a Malayalam poet with two collections of poetry to her credit. Her second collection, Azhakillathavayellam (All that are bereft of beauty) was published in 2010 after a span of seven years. In 2007, her Malayalam translations of Australian poet Les Murray were published in a bilingual edition. Her poems are characterized by clarity of images and their liveliness.
Her poems have been translated into several European languages (English, French, German and Swedish) as well as other Indian languages (Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, Marathi, Hindi, Assamese, Oriya and Gujarati). Among other things, she performed at a reading on the World Poetry Day in Berlin (2016)
In addition to poetry, Anitha Thampi also writes lyrics for films. She wrote lyrics for the film Kanyaka Talkies, which premiered at the 2013 Mumbai Film Festival and opened at the 44th International Film Festival of India.
