P K Sadanandan is an artist renowned for creating, reviving and restoring mural paintings in Kerala. He is an artist who has created a distinctive style drawing inspiration from Ajanta and Ellora paintings. It is blue colour which predominates in his paintings which is a deviation from the principal red colour in the traditional mural paintings of Kerala. He researches on naturally derived dyes and do not use chemically-derived dyes in his paintings.
He was involved in creating murals during renovation at the Sree Padmanabha Temple from 1993 to 1998. A massive mural painting depicting the tale of Parayipetta Panthirukulam created by Sadanandan and his colleagues made from natural dyes extracted from stones, leaves oil, sand and tree sap has been installed at the Cochin International Airport. It was the biggest attraction of the third edition of Kochi- Muziris Biennale. He has received A T Abu Memorial Award and All Kerala Creative Artists Association’s awards - for cartoons.
