“I want to create a world and give it to the audience. I want to make them believe and feel it,’ said the Oscar award winning sound designer, Resul Pookutty.
Resul, who has heard the sound of success shared his experiences at a conversation with Krishanunni on the third day of SPACES Fest.
Having shared the same space in their career, they agreed on the difficulties faced in analogue recording in the early years. “Digital recording has made filmmaking democratic and easy, he added. In the context of the fest, he detailed about how every space is associated with sound.
He shared strong views on his idea of film making and the kind of films he would like to associate himself with. He recollected the passion and perseverance that drove him to reach the pinnacle he wanted to, even when he exelled in physics, his core area of interest. He added that he is always on a lookout for the least explored when it comes to sound.
“There are few people who understand the possibility of music in Indian cinema. Loudness cannot be equated to the emotions we try to imbibe in the frames,” added Resul, at the session which concluded in an interaction with the audience.
