"We should not imitate nature. It is better to be honest to contrast the nature," said the renowned architect Peter Gast during his session on Kerala Tropics and Modernity in Architecture' at the SPACES Fest.
The session commenced with a clarification on the origin of the modernity of architecture and its evolution over the years. He described several abstract paintings from the late 19th century that paved the way for the modern architectural idealists and then went on to explain the various projects inspired by them. He then traced the modernity of architecture in India. According to him, the essence of form, geometry and proportion were the most significant attributes in the construction of the ancient temples in India.
He also detailed his projects in Kerala and about the antique and modern from of architecture which he tries to implement.
