A discussion on Contemporary Arts and Public Spaces in Kerala featuring Kavitha Balakrishnan and G. Ajitkumar was held on the second day of SPACES Fest.
G. Ajit kumar began the session by stating that sculptures are the most common form of public art. He also pointed out the general notion of considering public spaces as urinals, irresponsibly throwing garbage which reduces the importance of art in public spaces.
Kavitha Balakrishnan, art critic and curator agreed to the flex boards and advertisements since they are loud and catches one’s eye quickly.
The session which was moderated by Johny M.L ended with an interaction with the audience, focussing on the importance of art in the public spaces.
