A session on the dangers of skipping arts at school was a hearty interaction moderated by Johny M.L, featuring Dr. Rajan Gurukkal, Dr. J Devika and Shajahan IAS. The six C’s of education, put forth by Suresh Kumar IAS further focussed on the current attitude towards education which lacks these C’s. He pointed that the society including parents, concentred on attaining social status by treating students guinea pigs and not as individuals which would create ideal beings.
Abdul Hakeem recalled the mathematics theatre that helped him learn the subject skilfully during his childhood. The discussion was taken up by Dr.J. Devika who made a valid statement about Communicative English destroying the beauty of real English. The studying of arts helped in reimagining the possibilities of the existing situations.
The panel agreed in unison about the solution for the betterment of the whole situation as parental education. The discussion which ended with an interactive session brought in different aspects of the perception people have about liberal arts.
